2022.01.25 19:54 DMPatrick Favorite Builds Series - Post 5 - Paladin Oathbreaker X, Warlock Hexblade 1

Hey everyone. My name is Patrick and I've been playing and DMing 5e for several years now. There's plenty of guides out there about different builds and multiclass combos, but I thought I'd throw my hat in the ring and give some of my thoughts and opinions on a variety of builds.
This is my fifth post in a series of posts about about some of my favorite builds. Most of these builds will be quite optimized, but that's not to say they are the only way to make them or the best way to play them. Ultimately you should play as a character that you are excited about. This one is not unique, but it is very powerful and I was personally excited when I first came up with it. Yes this one is a Hexadin.

The Summary: You are a Paladin who uses Charisma to hit, for damage, and for damage again. You are a fierce melee combatant with a spear and shield. Plus you have eldritch blast in your pocket for those particularlly hard to reach creatures.
The Requirements: Max out Charisma for this one. 13 Str is required and 15 will let you wear heavy armor. Con is important because you'll be in melee alot.
Subclass: This build requires both Oathbreaker and Hexblade. The multiclass works with any Paladin subclass, but Oathbreaker takes the best advantage of our charisma. Make sure your DM is okay with the Oathbreaker subclass, as it can only be found in the DMG. Maybe make sure they don't hate you for dipping Hexblade either.
Feats: We want polearm master to make this optimal, but all other feats are optional.
Race: There is no real racial requirement here. Some cool race ideas:

The Details: Stats: 16 Cha, 15 Str, 16 Con, 8 Wis, 8 Dex, 8 Int [+2/+1 16 cha, 16 con, 15 str, 10,8,8] [custom lineage 18 cha, 14 con, 15 str, 10,8,8]
For Race I was torn between V Human (Polearm Master), Satyr, Aasimar Protector, and Custom Lineage (Fey Touched - Silvery Barbs) I'm using V human for this build because it's simpliest. I think Satyr is the best long term option.

V Human - Polearm Master, + skill
  1. Paladin 1 - Heavy armor Prof. Wis and Cha saves. Athletics, Persuasion, +2 background skills
  2. Paladin 2 - Smite, Dueling Fighting Style, spellcasting
  3. Warlock Hexblade 1 - Hexblade Curse, Cha for weapon attacks
  4. Paladin 3 - Oathbreaker subclass
  5. Paladin 4 ASI +2 Cha (or polearm master if non-feat race)
  6. Paladin 5 - Extra attack
  7. Paladin 6 - Aura of Protection
  8. Paladin 7 - Aura of Hate
  9. Paladin 8 ASI +2 Cha
  10. Paladin 9-10
  11. Paladin 11 - Improved Divine Smite
  12. Paladin 12-X

Spells:
Warlock Cantrips: Eldritch Blast, Prestidigitation Warlock Spells lvl 1: Shield, Hex, Prayer of Healing
Paladin Spells lvl 1: Bless, Shield of Faith Paladin Spells lvl 2: Aid, Find Steed Paladin Spells lvl 3: Animate Dead, Bestow Curse, Aura of Vitality, Revify, Spirit Shroud Paladin Spells lvl 4: Banishment, Find Greater Steed, Confusion

Important Features of this build:
At level 12, we expect to do 2d6+1d4+3d8+36= 59 damage on three hits with no resources used. We also get reaction attacks and smite to put out more damage. Eldritch blast will likely get some use in ranged combat, which is normally the Paladin's main weakness.
At High Levels:
As we progress this build is going to be really strong the whole game. Delaying extra attack and aura of protection is unfortunate, but well worth it. Paladins are a very strong class and this multiclass makes them more powerful. If you wanted to take 3 levels of Warlock, you could also change fighting styles and use GWM.
This build does fantastic melee damage at no resource cost for minimal feats and ASIs. We can also pump divine smites for Nova damage and make ranged attacks as a Paladin.

Thanks for reading! What do you think? Would you want to play this? Is this multiclass too common for you? I would like to combine this build with a necromancy mage in the party to wreak havoc with undead thralls. Let me know what you think or what type of build you'd like to see next!

Hello, I took 2mg of Xanax by 7pm but then I started getting very sleepy so I took a cup of coffee, which, of course, made me very nervous and jittery. So now I'm wondering, do you think it's safe for me to take another 2mg at 11pm?

2022.01.25 19:54 pleasemywets Hospitality job search question

Hello all! New to the state and first time job hunting here (will be looking in the city and the Eastside), and first time job hunting since COVID struck...
In the past, when looking for bar and restaurant work, I've typically just walked into places that I am interested in and asked if they are hiring/ to fill out an application.
Just wanted to get some feedback before assuming that is how things are done here, especially in light of things being still-not-normal. I don't want to start out on the wrong foot with somewhere I would like to work!
Thanks in advance.

My OB just called and apparently I didn’t have enough of the baby’s DNA in my blood to get the test done. So I guess I have to go get more blood work done. Has this happened to anyone else? I’m trying to calm my anxiety and the irrational fear that something may be wrong.

2022.01.25 19:54 EvilLemon23 Are the Banished still on the Ark, and the Keepers, aware of Cortana's actions with Doisac?

Sometime between Halo 5 and Infinite, Atriox had his meeting with Cortana in which she destroyed Doisac. However, it isn't made immediately clear when this meeting took place.
I feel like it would have happened between Shadows of Reach and Infinite because Atriox was within range to receive Cortana's transmission. Additionally, there is no mention, nor even a hint of Doisac's destruction until Infinite. I feel it fits the timeline best if Atriox witnessed Doisac's destruction when he returned, and the factions on the Ark simply have not heard any news on it yet.

2022.01.25 19:54 CostcoFireball Anything to know when putting in a two weeks’ notice?

Title is the gist of it. I’m new to the culinary world and am working at my first job in the industry as a pastry cook at a Michelin star restaurant while I’m in culinary school. I’ve been there about 6 months but this upcoming semester looks like it’ll demand more of my time. I haven’t given a two weeks’ notice before and feel a little guilty for putting in the notice, as weird as that sounds. Wondering if there are any tips for putting in a notice and if there are any expectations or unspoken rules that go along with it. I may just be overthinking it but any advice would put my mind at ease. Thanks in advance.

2022.01.25 19:54 ThrowRAidkbreakupidk We broke up but there is something she didn't know

We had been together for close to 1 and a half years (me 19M and her 19F) but have been friends forever, and our relationship was perfect, especially for the 1st year or so.
She broke up with me about a month and a half ago. Looking back I can see why. Our relationship was not as fun anymore, and actually was more like a friendship.
I do believe that there is more to it though. The last month before we broke up we were constantly together, she never had space for herself and was feeling pressured. She is an introvert after all, and needs time to recharge and time alone.
What she didn't know is that I had discovered something on me, that had an over 50% chance of being cancer. I didn't tell anyone and for the 4 weeks I waited to get checked by a doctor, I tried to be with her as much as possible, because when I was left alone, it was too much for me, knowing that I might have cancer.
I actually got checked and all went well. She broke up about a week after that, saying that she doesn't think we match, and I'm certain that always being together when she is introverted played a major role in her decision.
I never told her, or anyone about this, as she gets extremely nervous and would honestly lose her mind if she knew before I got checked.
I backed off for about a month and reinitiated contact with her. We're talking every few days (both of us are reaching out) and we met once and it was pretty fun. I honestly want us to get back together. I just don't know what I should do, or even if I should ever mention the above.
Also let me point out that we had more problems as well, as all couples, but I believe they were miniscule, and actually wroked on fixing everything, while I spent some time with my self.

In the movie "Philosophy of a knife", A man is placed under an irradiation machine and a zoom in shows what appears to be skin either mutating, or more likely burning, which is what intense gamma radiation can do, I love this affect and I'm wondering how it's made.
